Developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI), the five phases of project management include conception and initiationplanningexecution, performance/monitoring, and project close. PMI, which began in 1969, is the world’s largest nonprofit membership association for the project management profession.

In the broadest sense, our project managers (PMs) are responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the completion of specific projects for an organization while ensuring these projects are on time, on budget, and within scope.
